Looking for more Chinese spots to explore and stumbled upon this clean and friendly spot on N Halsted. The service was quick, attentive, and friendly. The food was pretty dang good. Solid 4-stars. We tried: -Pot Stickers (yes, recommend) -Soup Dumplings (yes, recommend) -Dry Chili Chicken (yes, recommend) -Fried Green Beans (yes, recommend) -Chicken Fried Rice (yes, recommend, but maybe spice up as needed) They have Diet Coke by the can :) Overall the food delivered and the staff was friendly (even with my friends who needed forks and couldn't use chop sticks). Helpful to know: -They provide kimchi for each table as a welcome bite. -Service is friendly and attentive. We will be back.

The tantalizing smell of Sichuan spice made me stop at this Wicker Park restaurant. Our first dish was Yushiang Shrimp Tasty large shrimp with veggies in a savory. Just spicy enough sauce. Then we had the Yushiang egg plant. Pan seared oriental. Eggplant in a sweet savory sauce. Homestyle bean curd found its way to our table. Green beans and vegetables and a spicier tangy sauce. Very tasty very delicious and then we ended with beef with wild chilies. We ordered this medium, which was still a little hotter than we hoped for The waitress said at next time we order it you can tone it down by getting green peppers mixed in with the jalapeño peppers. Which would make it less spicy. A very satisfying meal. With unique flavors that tantalize your taste buds. Plenty of food here we took home leftovers, which made our lunch for the next day

Amazing food and quick, friendly service. The menu had amazing options - we had the peking dumplings, crab rangoon, shrimp fried noodles, and general tso's chicken, all incredible.

Chengdu Impressions (the Halsted restaurant) was basically empty on this Saturday evening and I couldn't figure out why? The menu is all encompassing, the staff is very nice, its very clean and it's on a fast paced, action packed street, which make it fun. Well, maybe too fast and too much action, because, as we were seated, over 1,000 (or more) naked bike riders filed by this restaurant honking, ringing bells and acting as uninhibited as a totally nude person in public can act (ya gotta LOVE Chicago)! Anyways, us three ordered: * Our Won Ton soup was piping hot (just the way I like) and delicious * The Dad Dan Noodles was a terrific version of Spaghetti Bolognese except Chinese style * Our Chengdu Fried Chicken was this spicy, crunchy, very tasty dish that we devoured * The Shrimp with crispy rice was fantastic But the star of "This" show was the Garlic Pea Leaves - they were so good we could have easily ordered a second round of this outstanding dish * Our beers were ice cold and went well with everything we ordered Everything was very good here and I will definitely come back.

Wow what an extensive menu! I did a takeout of a mustard shrimp dish that was stellar. Also had a duck dish that was just ok but I'd sure go back for the shrimp dish!

Excellent food - we ordered the crispy eggplant and got a mala xiang guo and both were excellent. Yes, the food is very oily - but Sichuan food uses a lot of oil so it's not out of the norm. Hey, if you want authentic food, you're getting authenticity there with the oil. The oil is what imparts a lot of the spice. The crispy eggplant was incredible: the crispy skin mixes perfectly with the soft interior, creating an excellent contrasting texture experience. I would happily have this again. You can customize your mala xiang guo with a variety of options - we added lamb, which was cooked to perfection. As with Sichuan food, it is extremely spicy - if you don't have a high spice tolerance, be prepared to eat your food slowly since the heat builds!

Chengdu is one of my favorite places for a casual bite! It's easy to either order to go or eat inside! The soup dumplings are so good!

Food was very good but on the greasy side, huge menu. We had Peking duck, xiaolongbao, Yangzhou fried rice, rabbit and Bok choy. Overall clean environment! Surprisingly didn't leave with odor stain in my clothes. Took a bit to take our orders but nothing too crazy.

Pretty dead on a week day night for dinner so service was quick and also responsive. Beef noodle soup: not too spicy, beef was extremely soft and melts in your mouth. Mainly removed a star because the type of noodles they used felt like it didn't really match the noodle soup. Wontons: juicy and the soup base was refreshing and didn't taste like it was made from anything powder related. tasted clear. wontons had a right amount of filling! Mongolian beef: the beef they used was really good. don't know what they did to it but the sauce was also pretty good as well. I'd say they gave an adequate amount of beef though. There are certainly more onions and peppers if anything.

Authentic is definitely the word for this place. The Sichuan food is exactly as you would get it in China. I ordered delivery, and it arrived hot and freshly made. Six pieces of Shrimp Shu-Mai made a great appetizer. I like mine spiced up a bit so I dipped it in Sriracha. The other appetizer I tried was the Shanghai Spring Rolls. It was amazing how these had retained their crispness during the trip. Some of the best I've had. Salt and Pepper Ribs were good, but one of those authentic dishes where you spend a lot of time spitting out the bones, just as in China. The highlight was the Dry Chili Chicken. This s about half dry chilis! You don't want to eat these unless you really have a tolerance, because when they rate this dish with two chili icons, they mean it! The chicken was nicely crisp and suffused with the chili and garlic flavors. Even the fortune cookies (which are actually from San Francisco, not Asia) had authentically misspelled words! Best Sichuan food I've had in Chicago.
